# Holmes logo exploration v37-v42

This pass corrects the product fit. The directions are based on what Holmes actually does:

- local-first memory for coding agents
- prompt-context and recall
- stable refs, traces, artifacts, and evidence
- Procedures as reusable operating knowledge
- Memory Spaces, Profiles, Artifacts, Procedures, and Shared Workspaces
- scoped handoffs between agents and teammates
- Tier 0 usefulness with no LLM, no embedder, and no API key

## Recommendation

Advance v39 Recall Trace first.

It is closest to the actual product behavior: Holmes recalls memory with provenance, shows why it surfaced, links to evidence, and can connect memory use to later work. It avoids broad "AI memory" imagery and points at the trust layer Holmes is building.

Advance v38 Five Product Nouns second.

It is the most faithful to the product model. The mark can become a system language for Profiles, Memory Spaces, Artifacts, Procedures, and Shared Workspaces.

Advance v37 Owned Memory Layer third.

It best communicates the market position: Holmes is the local, vendor-neutral memory layer underneath Claude, Codex, Cursor, and other coding agents.

Keep v41 Procedures as a serious alternate.

Procedures are one of Holmes' strongest differentiators. This direction is narrower than v39/v38, but very accurate for reusable engineering rules, runbooks, release workflows, and troubleshooting knowledge.

## Notes

v40 Local Tier 0 is highly accurate but may read more like a database product than a coding-agent memory product.

v42 Shared Handoff is accurate for team workflows, but it should be secondary unless Shared Workspaces and handoff become the headline market story.

## Production note

These are bitmap concepts. Once a direction is selected, redraw the exact chosen cropped logo as vector artwork with app icon, CLI mark, horizontal lockup, favicon, dark-mode, monochrome, and small-size variants.
